While Germany had a few decades of darkness, this country offers a lot visually. Berlin has a lot of history, and while some of it can be morbid and unsettling, is very beautiful. I liked it mostly for its architecture but also for the history, since a semester of my university studies was devoted to 20th century genocides. The entanglement of European and American politics was not clear until I arrived in Berlin.
The German countryside is very beautiful, especially the Black Forest, Offenberg, Heidelberg and Vogtland. German food happens to be especially delicious, and very inviting to the tastebuds.
